THE PROBLEM

There are more than 5 trillion pieces of plastic in the ocean. They break down into toxic little pieces which marine animals mistake for food. As a result, millions of animals die each year, including seabirds, whales, turtles, and dolphins. Plastic is polluting natural habitats, the air, and water supplies. It’s even entered our food chain. And it’s not going away anytime soon — unless we all do our bit.

That’s why we focus on education among customers who are looking to reduce their personal waste. Together we share information, ideas, and enthusiasm that help move the zero-waste movement forward.

THE TEAM

In 2018, news surrounding plastic pollution was everywhere, photographs of sea animals tied up in plastic or ingesting it was all over the media. David Attenborough was making documentaries about human impact on our planet. Protests and charities popped up everywhere to highlight what we can do as humans to try to save the planet and Eve and Will started the company Auklett, named after a sea bird species as they, like many other species are severely impacted by our contributions to the planet. They asked themselves, how to live their lives and create as little waste as possible, while empowering others to do the same. Their conclusion was simple: Offering alternatives to wasteful single-use products to tackle pollution at its source.
